Bikini Beach to Seal Island
visiting Monkey Land the Cookes made their way to Gordons Bay and the umissable Bikini Beach, well perhaps on a nice day it would certainly be a place to visit but on a wet overcaste day it doesn't have the same appeal. Although they did see whales, but as far as I know none of them were wearing bikini's.
Just past Gordon's Bay on route to Hermanus, the Cooke came across a military helicopter landing literally next to the road, good job they were friendly.

On yet another overcaste day the Cookes braved the weather and this time the sea and visited Seal Island on the Nauticat. Nauticat sails from Hout Bay harbour and makes the 45 minute round trip to Seal Island just outside Hout Bay under the Sentinal.

Seal Island is home to about 5,000 fur seals, whose only preditors are sharks and killer whales. On the day of our visit the sea was rough and the waves seemed to be coming from three directions at once. Nauticat was very stable and provide a very good roller coaster ride as it battled with the waves. The area around Seal Island is where in July they hold the Big Wave Africa surf competition with waves over 5 meters high, the area is known as the Dungeons.
